What is the best GPS kit for iphone Touch 4G?

GPS Reviews

I just bought iphone Touch (4G). Now, I am thinking of using this for GPS in my car. If you have used any of car GPS kits (Magellan, TomTom, etc) for iphone Touch 4G, could you share your experience?
As far as reading the reviews on the web, some of the car kits do not seem to be compatible with 4G.
Most of the car kits listed in the shopping sites still do not include iphone touch 4G in the compatibility list. So, I would like an answer from someone, who already has tried any of the car kit for iphone touch 4G.

I have discovered that my jailbroken iPhone 3GS running 4.0.1 is running into a problem whenever i use any GPS program (TOMTOM, Magellan, Navigon). The GPS program runs fine for about 3-4 minutes, and then the iPhone will automatically reboot… I am not sure how to fix it. I wanted to restore the iOS, but I dont know how to jailbreak it again since I am not sure how to restore with 4.0.1 and not 4.1……
I tried the Maps application, and it too crashed the iphone into a reboot after a couple of minutes.

I downloaded 4.0.1 from the website suggested, and tried a shift restore, but it seems when when it communicates with Apple.com, it does not let me install/restore to 4.0.1.

Best GPS to buy for Geocaching?

GPS Reviews

I’m looking for a good GPS to use for Geocaching. I was looking at the Magellan eXplorist GC, but that doesn’t have a built in compass, which is a big downside. Are there any GPS devices that are Geocache friendly, and are accurate? I used the app for the iPhone, which was perfect, it located nearby caches, had the coordinates, and had a compass that led me straight to them, but I can’t use an iPhone, I need a GPS. Help?
I was looking at the Oregon 550t…does anyone have any info on that?

The Magellan eXplorist for $199 but it lacks a compass and topographic maps or the Lowrance endura safari for $285 it has slightly better features and you can use the touch screen or the buttons, I have a 10% coupon and was wondering if it would be better to spend a little extra on the lowrance? Thanks
I actually have a Magellan in my car already, that plus my iPhone and I don’t need anything for street navigation just for finding geocaches in the woods, I’ve been using the geocaching app for the iPhone and it works great but the battery doesn’t last more than 3-4 hours

I have wanted to get a GPS system for my car and I’m finally going to do it,(but) I have some ?’s about them. I understand that you plug them into your cigarette lighter to make them work but I’ve read articles on some of them < TomTom & Magellan > and it states that the battery wears out in 3 hours.

If it is powered by the cigarette lighter then what is the purpose of the battery? If I go on a trip in the car for 5 hours does this mean that it will NOT work after the 3 hours? Also, which one is the best and has the clearest instructions? I have referenced TomTom and Magellan and each one has different models to choose from. I’m not sure which one to get. All replies will be appreciated.

TomTom XL 540S
Magellan RoadMate 3045-LM

I am considering going to the Black Friday sale and getting a GPS. All the GPS’s are around the same price but I’m a little stumped at which ones to get. The brands are TomTom, Garmin, and one is a Magellan. So which brand is the best? Anything I need to know? I go to a lot of concerts so a GPS would be a lot more handier than the GPS on my cell phone.

Thanks!

The other day I first noticed my Roadmate acting weird when I would plug it in to charge in my car and it would say that it was hooked up to my “pc.” Which, it obviously wasn’t. So since it didn’t read my charger, it wouldn’t charge and eventually died.

So as I’m trying to fix it, the input on the side of the device gets pushed into the actual device and now I can’t make a connection at all.

I looked into getting a new one, but they are too expensive. Is there a way to repair the one I have? Or even somewhere I can send it?

Any advice helps, thank you.

I’m still a newbie with Geocaching. I’m shopping for a GPS machine for myself to use for Geocaching as well as road-mapping my routes and weather conditions, etc.
Which GPS system (Magellan, Garmin or Tom-tom) has the most usable features for my efforts?

I know most allow entry of up to 1,000 waypoints, but I need something that will optimize at least 50 stops. I hear Magellan’s 3700 series optimize 100 but from what I’ve read, the units are very fragile and expensive.
